Potted Lemon
The potted lemon plant is a type of lemon tree grown in pots, commonly known as Citrus limon. Lemon belongs to the citrus family and is known as a popular fruit around the world.
Growing Conditions:
Light: Lemon trees need full sunlight. It is ideal to grow a potted lemon plant on a south-facing windowsill or balcony, if possible.
Soil: A well-drained soil with an acidic pH level should be preferred. Mixtures containing peat, perlite and garden soil are suitable for growing in pots.
Irrigation: Irrigation should be done as the soil surface dries slightly. However, overwatering should be avoided because lemon trees are susceptible to root rot.
Temperature: Lemon trees are warm climate plants. It is important to protect the potted lemon plant from cool air currents. It can be taken indoors to protect it from cold weather and frost during winter months.
Fruiting: Lemon trees usually begin to bear fruit around the second or third year. During the flowering period, giving the plant a sufficient amount of fertilizer and gently shaking to ensure pollination can promote fruit formation.
Care and Pruning: Lemon trees may require periodic pruning over time to keep branches under control and unwanted growth. It is also important to regularly remove yellowed or diseased leaves.
