Bonsai Olive

Bonsai Olive tree (Olea europaea) is from the olive family (Oleaceae); It is a tree species with edible fruit, native to the Mediterranean climate. The chromosome number of olive is 2n=46. The Oliveaceae family has about 27 genera and about 600 species. Olive is a tall shrub or tree that can grow up to 10 meters tall, with dense branches, a broad top, and evergreen leaves.
It has a wide, curved, knobby body. As the tree ages, the smooth gray trunk bark gradually cracks. The crown (top) of the tree expands each year approximately as the height increases. It is a long-lived tree and can live for about 2000 years. In fertile soils, the crown is open and asymmetrical, and in infertile soils it is more dense and rounded.
Its shoots are grey, thornless and almost three-cornered. Its lanceolate, very short-stemmed, leather-like hard leaves are arranged in opposite pairs on the shoots. Its leaves are simple, full-edged, and the edges are slightly curved towards the underside. The length of the leaf is 20-86 mm and its width is 5-17 mm. There is a pointed protrusion at the tip of the leaves. The upper surface of the leaf is dark grey-green and hairless, while the lower surface is bluish silvery and covered with white dense silky hairs. It has small whitish-yellow, fragrant flowers that bloom in sparse clusters in the axils of the leaves towards the end of spring.
Flowers pollinated by pollen carried by the winds produce fleshy and oily fruits. The fruit is green at first and turns shiny black after ripening. There is a hard seed inside the fleshy fruit. It is a very valuable tree due to its "oil" obtained from the flesh and seed of the fruit. At the same time, the tree has a very majestic and aesthetic appearance.
Its wood is extremely resistant to decay.
